On Friday, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced that they are getting a divorce. The couple has been married for seven years. They were married in 2004 at Jennifer Lopez's home in Beverly Hills. According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, in 2008 the couple renewed their vows. They also renewed their marriage vows last year.

The divorce announcement came as a shock to many. Jennifer Lopez was a judge on American Idol last year and the couple gave a joint performance for the show's season finale with Marc Anthony singing and Lopez dancing. The couple said in a statement that the decision was hard, but they had reached amicable agreements on everything. The couple has two children, so a major decision the couple would have had to make is how to share custody of the children. They have three-year-old twins. They did not give a reason for the split, but asked that their privacy be respected.

Lopez has been married and divorced two other times. This marriage was Anthony's second. Lopez's relationships have been in the news before. Her relationship with Ben Affleck, dubbed Bennifer, was followed closely by the media through their engagement and eventual break-up. Lopez also used to date Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. According to the Los Angeles Times piece, Lopez and Anthony were married soon after his divorce from his first wife.

Lopez and Anthony's joint performance on American Idol was well received and gave the impression that the couple was doing well. The soon-to-be-ex-couple were planning to co-host a singing competition reality show in South America and it is still planned to air this fall.
